Three Named to Naismith Watch List

EUGENE, Ore. - The Oregon women's basketball team had a trio of player named to the Naismith Trophy watch list on Monday, given annually to the national player of the year.
Oregon's three selections - junior Sabrina Ionescu, junior Ruthy Hebard and sophomore Satou Sabally - are tied with Baylor and UConn for second most in the nation, behind only Notre Dame (5).
The 50 player preseason watch list will be cut down to a midseason list of 30 players, then a list of 10 semifinalists before a group of four finalists are selected.
Ionescu was one of 10 semifinalists for the honor last season, which was awarded to South Carolina senior A'ja Wilson. Last week, Ionescu was named the ESPNW preseason player of the year.
The Citizen Naismith Trophy is presented by the Atlanta Tipoff Club to the top player in the nation.
