Laurent Into ITA Semifinal for a Second Time

EUGENE, Ore. – For a second-straight year, Thomas Laurent is into the semifinals of the ITA National Fall Championships. The Duck senior racked up a pair of wins Friday to advance to the last four of the main draw. Laurent will face top-ranked Petros Chrysochos for a spot in the finals.
"For Tom to be in another final four at nationals and one of the contenders for a national title…it's nothing short of amazing," head coach Nils Schyllander said. "The fact that he is, yet again, one of the last players standing speaks volumes of how sound of a player and fierce of a competitor he is."

Laurent opened the day with a three-set victory over No. 10 seed John McNally of Ohio State. After dropping the second set, Laurent responded by breaking McNally's serve three times in final frame to move on to the quarterfinals.
Playing his second match of the day, Laurent was down a late break in the first set but fought back to force a tiebreaker. The breaker was tied at 1-all before Laurent rattled off the last six points to take the opening set. Once again, the Montpellier, France, native rallied from a late break in the second and won the final three games to book a spot into Saturday's semifinal.
