The Oregon women's golf team enters the third round of the Allstate Sugar Bowl in 12th place after shooting 22 over on Monday
NEW ORLEANS – The Oregon women's golf team wrapped up round two of the Allstate Sugar Bowl with a 22-over 310 on Monday at the English Turn Golf and Country Club.
How it Happened: The Ducks had a hard time finding their footing in round two of the Allstate Sugar Bowl as they shot 22 over and dropped down two spots from round one into 12th place.
Despite shooting 1 under through her first nine holes, sophomore Amy Matsuoka struggled over her last nine holes. Matsuoka carded four bogeys and one double bogey to finish at 5 over on the day and tied for 26th on the individual leaderboard.
Freshman Alexis Phadungmartvorakul also started strong, carding a birdie on her second hole of the day to finish 1 under through her first nine. However, like Matsuoka, Phadungmartvorakul recorded four bogeys and one double bogey in the second half of her round to finish the day with a 5-over 77 to put her in a tie for 42nd overall.
Junior Petra Salko and Freshman Madi Daniel both finished at 6 over in round two of the Allstate Sugar Bowl. Salko carded one birdie and is now tied for 51st on the individual leaderboard, and Daniel carded three birdies to put her in a tie for 65th.
Kathleen Scavo shot 9 over in round two after leading the Ducks with an even-par 72 on Sunday, and she is currently tied for 42nd with Phadungmartvorakul.
Quotable: Head Coach, Ria Scott
On how the Ducks performed in round two…
"The turn hit us hard today. We were only 4 over on the first nine, and 18 over on the back. It's not like us to have so many big numbers on our cards. We hope to clean that up, stick to our game plan and make a final move on the field tomorrow"
Up Next: Round three of the Allstate Sugar Bowl is a shotgun format and will start at 6 a.m. PT on Tuesday.
