Ducks Finish Round One in Tempe

The Oregon women’s golf finished round one of the ASU Invitational shooting 9-over 297 on Friday
TEMPE, Ariz. – The Oregon women's golf team kicked off the Ping ASU Invitational with a 9-over 297 in the first round at the ASU Karsten Gold Course on Friday.
How it Happened: Highlighted by a steady performance from junior Petra Salko and an early eagle by freshman Madi Daniel, the Ducks are currently tied for 7th place with two rounds left to play. After the first 18 holes, Washington is in first place at 4 under.
Coming off a solid performance in the SunTrust Gator Invitational where she tied for fifth, Salko carded three birdies in Tempe, including two in her first nine holes, to lead the Ducks with an even-par 72 in the first round.
Sophomore Amy Matsuoka finished one stroke behind Salko, shooting a 1-over 73 while carding four birdies.
Junior Kathleen Scavo started the day strong, shooting even on her first nine holes, but struggled after the turn to finish with a 3-over 75 in the first round.
Daniel carded an eagle on her first hole of the tournament, but also had trouble finding her footing down the stretch and shot 5 over on the day to round out the scoring for the Ducks. Like Scavo, Daniel was even through her first nine holes of the day.
Senior Kelsey Ulep, competing as an individual, carded three birdies on the front nine and finished at 6-over 78 in her return to the Ducks' lineup.
Freshman Alexis Phadungmartvorakul recorded one birdie and finished the day at 7 over.
