Ducks drop second straight to Arizona State

How it Happened: ASU (10-9, 2-0 Pac-12) scored four runs in the first, two in the second, four in the third, two in the fourth, one in the fifth and five in the sixth to build an 18-0 lead before the Ducks (12-6, 0-2 Pac-12) answered with a pair of runs in both the eighth and ninth innings.
Gage Canning, who went 5-for-5 with two home runs, a triple, four RBI and five runs scored, led an ASU attack that saw six Sun Devils finish with multiple hits. Spencer Torkelson finished 2-for-6 with three RBI and his 10th home run.
The Ducks struggled on the mound with starter James Acuna (2-1) getting chased after 1.1 innings. He allowed six runs, five earned, on six hits while walking two. Hunter Breault, Nico Tellache and Jesse Hobaica all gave up runs in relief before Peyton Fuller came in to pitch two scoreless innings.
Spencer Steer got the Ducks on the board in the eighth with a two-run triple that scored Alex Andranovich and Trevor Windisch, who each added an RBI in the ninth.
Notable: Gabe Matthews has reached base in all 18 games and has a 20-game streak dating back to last season … Steer had his seventh multi-RBI game this season and the 17th of his career which puts him alone in ninth place all-time at Oregon … Steer has also reached base in 14 straight games … Andranovich and Windisch each had their first career hits and RBI.
On Deck: Oregon and Arizona State will wrap up the three-game series Sunday at 12:30 p.m. The Ducks will send Kolby Somers (1-0, 1.69) to the mound, while the Sun Devils will throw Eli Lingos (3-1, 3.70).
