EUGENE, Ore. - Sabrina Ionescu was named a first team All-American while Ruthy Hebard claimed honorable mention honors, the Associated Press announced on Monday.
Ionescu is the Ducks' first ever AP first team All-American while her and Hebard join Jillian Alleyne, Shaquala Williams, Arianne Boyer and Sally Crowe as Ducks to claim AP All-American recognition.
Ionescu has racked up the accolades this season, being named a first team All-American now by the AP, ESPN and USA Today. She was the Pac-12 player of the year and the Pac-12 Tournament MVP and is a finalist for the Nancy Lieberman point guard of the year award. Hebard was named all-Pac-12 for the second straight season and is a finalist for the Katrina McClain power forward of the year award. The WBCA will announce its All-Americans and its top players at each position at the Final Four next weekend in Columbus, Ohio.
Ionescu has six triple-doubles this season and a NCAA record 10 in her young career. She tallied a triple-double last weekend against Seattle U in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament and is averaging 21.3 points, 8.7 rebounds and 10 assists while shooting 57.9 percent (22-of-38) from the floor and 50 percent (7-of-14) from three over three games in the tournament thus far.
Hebard has two double-doubles in the NCAA Tournament this year and is averaging 19.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 3.3 blocks while shooting 66.7 percent (28-of-42) over the Ducks' three tournament games.
Ionescu, Hebard and the No. 2 seed Ducks battle No. 1 seed Notre Dame at 6 PM today on ESPN in the Elite Eight. Oregon is looking for the first Final Four trip in program history.
