05/26/18 | Men's Golf
STILLWATER, Okla. – Oregon finished round two of the NCAA Championships in 28th place after shooting 12 over Saturday at Karsten Creek Golf Club. Edwin Yi led the way after shooting an even-par 72.
How it Happened: Yi made bogey on his second hole of the day, the par-3 11th, but bounced back with birdies on both par 5s on the back nine to get to 1 under at the turn. He birdied the par-5 first hole but dropped a couple of shots with bogeys at five and seven to fall back to even.
Norman Xiong shot an uncharacteristic 2-over 74 to drop back to 2 under for the tournament and tied for 19th. He made four bogeys and a birdie on the back nine and dropped back to 3 over for the round at the turn. Xiong nearly aced the par-3 third hole, but made double bogey and bogey on his next two holes to drop to 5 over. He birdied three of his last four holes to get back in red figures for the tournament.
Ryan Gronlund and Donald Kay each shot a 5-over par 77, while Kevin Geniza turned in a 6-over par 78.
The Ducks will need to get inside the top 15 in order to make it to Monday's fourth round of stroke play. Texas Tech leads after 36 holes at 5 under while Auburn's Brandon Mancheno holds the individual lead at 6 under.
