Trio of Under Par Rounds Highlight Day Two in Arizona

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Oregon shot 3 under in round two of the Maui Jim Intercollegiate behind under par rounds by three different players Saturday at Mirabel Golf Club. Donald Kay, Edwin Yi and Ryan Gronlund all finished in red figures to put the Ducks in a tie for eighth at 8 under for the tournament.
How it Happened: Yi started birdie, bogey for the second straight day – this time beginning on the front nine – and followed with a birdie at five and a bogey at the par-3 eighth to shoot even going out. He shot a 1-under 34 on the back nine to finish with a 1-under 69 on the day.
Donald Kay had the low round of the day for the Ducks, matching a career-low round with a 2-under 68. Kay played steady throughout the day, making just three birdies but only one bogey at the par-4 fifth hole, carding a bogey-free back nine.
Ryan Gronlund birdied three of the final five holes on the front nine after a bogey at hole four to shoot 2 under. He made eight pars and a bogey to shot 1 over on his homeward half.
Craig Ronne turned in a 1-over 71 and is tied for 57th, finishing with four birdies and five bogeys and Sam Foust shot an 8-over 78.
Arizona State and LSU are tied for the 36-hole lead at 23 under while Chun An Yu of Arizona State leads the individual race at 11 under.
