Closer Look At D-Mitch's Record-Breaking Season
01/11/19 | Football
When quarterback Justin Herbert returned from injury at the end of the 2017 season, wide receiver Dillon Mitchell hauled in 21 catches for 287 yards over the final three games. It was obvious Herbert and Mitchell were on the same page.
Â
The strong finish from 2017 led to a record-breaking junior campaign in 2018 for Mitchell, who declared for the NFL Draft just a few days after being named the Redbox Bowl Offensive MVP following Oregon's 7-6 win over Michigan State.
Below is a closer look at Mitchell's breakout season and where he stacked up among the program's all-time leaders.
BY THE NUMBERS
1,184 - Fueled by six 100-yard games, Mitchell finished with a program single-season record 1,184 yards receiving. It marked the 11th 1,000-yard receiving season in program history, and Mitchell's 1,184 yards led the Pac-12.
239 - Mitchell fell just three yards short of breaking the program single-game record for receiving yards when he hauled in 239 yards on 14 receptions against Stanford. The 239 yards were the fourth-most against a Power 5 team in 2018.Â
112.9 - Mitchell ranked third nationally with 112.9 receiving yards per game in conference play this season. He was one of just four players nationally with 1,000 yards receiving in league contests.Â
49 -Â Out of Mitchell's 75 receptions on the season, 49 of them resulted in a first down which was the highest total in the Pac-12.
6 -Â All six of Mitchell's 100-yard receiving games came in Pac-12 action, including two runs of three consecutive games. His six 100-yard games in conference play were the most in the nation.
