
Ionescu, Hebard Named to Wooden Award Midseason Watch List

EUGENE, Ore. - Both Sabrina Ionescu and Ruthy Hebard have been named to the Wooden Award Midseason Watch List, the Los Angeles Athletic Club announced on Wednesday.
The midseason watch list includes 25 players in the running for the Wooden Award, given to the national player of the year.
Ionescu leads the NCAA in assists per game (9.0 apg) this season and ranks third in the country, shooting 50.7 percent from three-point range. The junior guard owns the NCAA career triple-doubles record with 15. Ionescu is the only player in the country averaging 16+ points (19.8 ppg), 7+ rebounds (8.1 rpg) and 7+ assists (9.0 apg).
Hebard leads the NCAA, shooting 70.9 percent from the field. The junior is averaging 17.6 points and 8.7 rebounds per game, both in the top-10 of the Pac-12.
The winner of the 2019 John R. Wooden Award will be presented during the ESPN College Basketball Awards presented by Wendy's on Friday, April 12, 2019.

Four schools have multiple players on the list - Oregon, UConn, Baylor and Notre Dame. The Pac-12 leads all conferences with six selections on the midseason list; followed by the ACC and SEC with five selections each; and the American, Big 12 and Big Ten with three selections apiece.
The list will be cut to 20 players in February before a final ballot of 15 players is presented to voters. The Wooden Award All-America team of five players will be announced during the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. Ionescu was a Wooden All-American last season.The winner of the 2019 John R.
