Geniza Highlights First Day of OSU Invite

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Kevin Geniza led the way for Oregon on day one of the Oregon State Invitational Monday at Trysting Tree Golf Club, shooting a 1-under 70 in round one. Geniza was tied for sixth after the opening round and the Ducks were tied for 10th as round two was suspended due to darkness with a few holes left to play.
How it Happened: Geniza turned in an up-and-down opening round, making five birdies and four bogeys on the way to a 1-under 70. He bogeyed his first hole of the day, the par-4 third, but responded with a birdie on the par-5 fifth hole. After bogeys at seven and 10, he birdied three of his next six holes to get into red numbers, then went bogey, birdie, par to finish 1 under.
Tom Gueant delivered a 3-over 75 and was in a tie for 37th at the end of round one. The sophomore was 1 under through six holes and just 1 over with two to play, but finished bogey, double bogey to end his opening round. Craig Ronne and Nate Stember each shot a 7-over 78 to finish as the other two counting scores for the Ducks.
