Ducks Announce Track and Field Schedule
11/18/19 | Track and Field
EUGENE, Ore. – Highlighted by the return of Hayward Field to host the Pac-12 Championships, head coach Robert Johnson and the Oregon track and field team have announced the program's 2019-20 schedule.
Â
"Even more so than usual, this year's track and field schedule is exciting for us because of what we have coming up toward the end of the season with the completion of Hayward Field," Johnson said. "Our schedules are put together to allow our student-athletes to be at their best when it matters most, and that's the championship season."
Â
INDOOR
Two weeks removed from the cross country campaign, a handful of Ducks will compete at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener (Dec. 7) hosted by Boston University. The UW Indoor Preview (Jan. 18) will mark the first of three UO dates in Seattle during the season with additional trips for the Husky Classic (Feb. 14-15) and MPSF Championships (Feb. 28-29).
Â
For a second-consecutive year, Oregon will compete at the Razorback Invitational (Jan. 31-Feb. 1) for an early season scored meet. A small group will then head back to the East Coast for the Camel City Classic (Feb. 7-8) in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Â
In a split weekend also featuring the Husky Classic, the Ducks' sprints and jumps groups will compete at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational (Feb. 13-14) in Albuquerque, N.M. The indoor campaign will culminate with a return trip to Albuquerque for the NCAA Championships (March 13-14).
Â
OUTDOOR
The Ducks open their outdoor season at the SDSU Aztec Invitational (March 27-28) for a third-straight year, followed by a split weekend at the Jim Click Shootout (April 2-4) in Tucson, Ariz., and Stanford Invitational (April 3-4).
Â
After a two-week break from competition, Oregon heads to Southern California for the Bryan Clay Invitational (April 15-17) and Mt. SAC Relays (April 16-18), back at the newly renovated Hilmer Lodge Stadium.
Â
As the calendar flips to May, the Ducks will start their postseason preparations with the Cardinal Classic at Stanford, OSU High Performance hosted by Oregon State and Desert Heat Classic in Tucson.
Â
The 2020 postseason begins with the Pac-12 Multi-Events Championships (May 9-10) in Corvallis.
Â
The following weekend, Hayward Field opens its doors for the 2020 Pac-12 Championships (May 16-17). It will mark the first meet event hosted at Hayward Field since reconstruction started in the summer of 2018. The 2020 Pac-12 Championships will be the 10th time the conference meet is held in Eugene.
Â
Based on qualifiers earned over the previous two months, Oregon and the rest of the region will head to Lawrence, Kan., for the NCAA West Preliminary (May 28-30) which serves as the gateway meet to the national meet. The NCAA Championships (Jun 10-13) are back in Austin, Texas, for a second-consecutive season.
Â
The U.S. Olympic Team Trials (June 19-28) are also back at Hayward Field to determine Team USA for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The Olympic schedule for track and field will be contested July 31-Aug. 9.
