12/23/19 | Women's Basketball
EUGENE, Ore. – Jaz Shelley has been named the Pac-12 freshman of the week for her historic performance in last week's win over UC Riverside, the conference announced on Monday.
Shelley was firing on all cylinders last Monday in Matthew Knight Arena, breaking the UO single-game record with 10 made three-pointers while piling up a career-high 32 points. Shelley finished 10-of-14 from beyond the arc, besting the previous program record of nine.
The Moe, Australia, native became the first UO freshman to score 30-plus points in a game since 2013-14, and her 10 made threes are the second most of any player in the nation this season. On the season, Shelley leads the Pac-12 and is tied for 29th nationally with a 45.3 shooting percentage from three-point range.
Shelley is Oregon's second Pac-12 freshman of the week this season, and the Ducks have now had a player honored by the conference in three straight weeks. Holly Winterburn was the freshman of the week on Dec. 9, and Sabrina Ionesco was named Pac-12 player of the week last Monday.
The Ducks (10-1), who moved up to No. 2 in the AP poll on Monday, will host Corban in an exhibition game on Dec. 28 before opening Pac-12 play at home against Colorado on Jan. 3.
