EUGENE, Ore. – A three-time academic all-district selection, Oregon senior offensive tackle Calvin Throckmorton has been named 2019 second-team Academic All-America® by CoSIDA, the organization announced today.
Throckmorton, who graduated with a 3.82 grade-point average while majoring in human physiology, is just one of 19 Oregon football players ever named to the academic All-America team. Throckmorton joins teammate Justin Herbert, a first-team selection for the third consecutive season, on the team. Oregon placed two players on the academic All-America team for the first time since 2001 when quarterback Joey Harrington and offensive lineman Ryan Schmid were both first-team selections.
A four-year starter, Throckmorton has started all 51 games of his career and has not allowed a sack in 32 straight starts at right tackle. The versatile Throckmorton has started games at four positions during his career with 40 coming at right tackle, five at left tackle, three at right guard and three at center.
To be eligible for selection to the academic All-America team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 grade-point average, appear in at least 50 percent of their team's games and be named to a CoSIDA All-District Team.
