Hull Headlines XC All-Academic Selections
02/14/19 | Cross Country, Track and Field
EUGENE, Ore. – In combined recognition of their efforts in competition and in the classroom, the Men and Women of Oregon cross country programs earned USTFCCCA Team Academic awards. Individually, standout Jessica Hull was named the 2018 Division I Women's Scholar-Athlete of the Year to lead four Ducks on the all-academic team.
With this most recent accolade, Hull becomes the third Oregon runner—and first UO woman—and the first woman from the Pac-12 to win the award. Hull finished no lower than third in any race during the Ducks' 2018 cross country season. She ran to a bronze finish at the NCAA Championships and was the runner-up at the Pac-12 and NCAA West Region Championships.
Scholar-Athletes of the Year (XC) in UO Program History
Galen Rupp (2007, '08)
Edward Cheserek (2014)
Jessica Hull (2018)
Hull is joined on the 2018 all-academic team by fellow Ducks Isabelle Brauer, Carmela Cardama Baez and Weronika Pyzik. Along with Hull, Cardama Baez and Pyzik each earned All-America selection and Brauer was an all-region performer in her first season at Oregon.
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top 25 (or 10 percent) at the NCAA Regional Championships or as an All-American at the NCAA Championships. For team consideration, programs had to maintain a 3.0 GPA collectively.
