THE FIELD
Boise State, Denver, Hawaii, Long Beach State, Loyola Marymount, Nevada, Oral Roberts, Oregon (host), Oregon State, Pacific, San Diego State, San Francisco, San Jose State, Seattle, Washington State, Wyoming.
LAST TIME OUT
JR Kevin Geniza and SR Ryan Gronlund both finished in the top 10 to lead the way for the Ducks at the Bandon Dunes Championship. Geniza turned in a career-best finish, coming in tied for third at even par. Gronlund recorded his 11th career top-10 finish, going 2 over for the tournament, highlighted by a 4-under 68 in round two. FR Yin Ho Yue had his best finish of his freshman year, coming in tied for 16th at 4 over playing as an individual. Oregon came in ninth as a team at 27 over.
COMPETING WITH THE BEST
In each of its first two events of the spring, Oregon went up against high-quality fields and bested a number of top teams. Following those two high finishes, the Ducks moved up to No. 33 in the latest Golfstat rankings, up 12 spots from the end of the fall.
At the Amer Ari Invitational, the Ducks came in tied for fourth and finished ahead of then No. 2 Georgia Tech and perennial powerhouse programs Stanford and Texas Tech. Oregon finished tied with No. 6 USC and finished behind only No. 1 Oklahoma State, No. 12 Texas and No. 13 Auburn. A week later at The Prestige, the Ducks finished in fifth place, coming in ahead of No. 14 Arkansas and other quality teams in Iowa State, Northwestern and Stanford.
VETERANS LEADING THE WAY
SR Edwin Yi and SR Ryan Gronlund each have gotten off to great starts following the winter break. Yi has proven himself to be one of the top players in the Pac-12 after a runner-up finish and 11th-place effort moved him up to No. 16 in the Golfstat player rankings. He came in tied for second at the Amer Ari Invitational, finishing behind only collegiate No. 1 player Matthew Wolff of Oklahoma State, and came in ahead of a number of other highly-ranked players, including Viktor Hovland of Oklahoma State and USC's Justin Suh.
Gronlund came in tied for 12th at the Amer Ari Invitational, highlighted by a career-low 7-under 65 in the opening round. He finished 10th at The Prestige and tied for ninth at the Bandon Dunes Championship.
