Ionescu Named AP All-American

Oregon's junior guard was named Monday to her second Associated Press all-American first team.
One day after leading the Oregon women's basketball team to its first Final Four appearance, UO junior guard Sabrina Ionescu on Monday was named a first-team all-American by The Associated Press.
The two-time Pac-12 player of the year, Ionescu also repeated as a first-team AP all-American as a junior. The national player of the year candidate is averaging 19.9 points, 7.5 rebounds and 8.2 assists per game, and she has eight triple-doubles this season to extend her NCAA career record to 18.
On Sunday, Ionescu scored 31 points to help the Ducks (33-4) beat Mississippi State, 88-84, in the Portland Regional final. Mississippi State center Teaira McCowan also was named a first-team all-American on Monday, along with Napheesa Collier of Connecticut, Megan Gustafson of Iowa and Asia Durr of Louisville.
With the win Sunday, Oregon advanced to the Final Four and will play Friday in Tampa, Fla., at 4 p.m. PT against the winner of Monday night's matchup between Baylor and Iowa.
