Freshman Trio Pace Ducks in Western Intercollegiate

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – Oregon's trio of freshmen all finished in the top 30 as the Ducks wrapped up play in the Western Intercollegiate at 15 over and tied for sixth.
Yin Ho Yue was the highest finisher for the Ducks, coming in 14th at even par for the week. Tom Gueant shot a career-best 1-under 69 in the final round to finish tied for 26th and Craig Ronne turned in a tied for 17th finish at 2 over.
How it Happened: Gueant was 2 over after eight holes, making a birdie and three bogeys before picking up a shot with a birdie at the par-5 ninth. He got into red figures with back-to-back birdies at holes 13 and 14 and closed with four straight pars to finish 4 over for the tournament.
Yue made bogey at the second hole, but birdied the par-4 seventh and par-5 ninth to make the turn at 1 under. He got to 2 under after birdies at 10 and 13 and a bogey at 11 but made double bogey at the par-4 16th to drop back to even par for the day.
Edwin Yi also closed with an even-par 70 to finish the tournament tied for 26th at 4 over. He shot an even-par 35 on both nines, making four birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey on the day. Kevin Geniza shot a 4-over 74 and Ronne turned in a 5-over 75 to round out the counting scores for the Ducks.
