NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The total of former Oregon players selected on the final day of the 2019 NFL Draft reached four Saturday when wide receiver Dillon Mitchell and defensive lineman Jalen Jelks were selected in the seventh round.
Mitchell became the seventh Oregon wide out to be drafted since 2000 when the Minnesota Vikings selected him with the 239th overall pick. Just two picks later, Jelks was selected by the Dallas Cowboys.
It marks the fifth time in the last eight years Oregon has had four or more players selected and the first time since 2013 that three defensive players have been taken.
Mitchell set the program single-season record and led the Pac-12 with 1,184 receiving yards on 75 receptions as a junior in 2018. All six of his 100-yard receiving games came in Pac-12 action and he was one of four players nationally with 1,000 yards receiving in league play. Mitchell finished his career with a reception in 18 consecutive games while leading the Pac-12 in catches that resulted in a first down with 49. The Memphis, Tenn. product was named to the Pac-12 All-Conference second team by the league head coaches and the Associated Press.
A two-time Pac-12 All-Conference first team choice, Jelks was a disruptive force on the edge and inside for the Oregon defense over the last two seasons. Jelks led all Pac-12 defensive linemen in tackles (57) in 2018 after leading the Pac-12 in tackles for loss (14.0) in league play the year before. He finished his career with 29.5 tackles for loss and 15.0 sacks.
