Yi Completes Round Two of NCAAs
05/25/19 | Men's Golf
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Edwin Yi shot a 5-over 77 in the second round of the NCAA Championships at The Blessings Golf Club Saturday and will look to bounce back with a strong effort in Sunday's third round. The senior is currently in at tie for 102nd place heading into round three.
Yi opened with a birdie at the par-5 10th hole but went 7 over in the following four holes to drop to 6 over for the round. He responded though with birdies at two of the next three holes before a bogey at 18 put him at 5 over making the turn. Yi turned in steady play on the front nine, making a bogey on hole three and a closing birdie at the par-4 ninth to shoot even par.
Scoring conditions proved to be tough yet again, as just eight players remain under par for the tournament and the overall scoring average for the field sits at 76.05 through two rounds.
YI SELECTED PING ALL-WEST REGION: Yi was selected to the PING West Region Team Saturday by the Golf Coaches Association of America. It's the first time he's been selected to the team in his career while he extended Oregon's streak of having a player selected to the team to six straight years.
UP NEXT: Yi will play round three of the NCAA Championships Sunday looking to finish as one of the top nine individuals not on an advancing team.
