FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Edwin Yi shot a 4-over 76 in round three of the NCAA Championships Sunday at The Blessings Golf Club and did not make the 54-hole cut to make it to Monday's final round of stroke play. The senior's incredible career at Oregon came to and end as he finished tied for 102nd at 15 over for the tournament.
Yi made a birdie at the par-4 12th hole to get into red figures for the round, but made back-to-back double bogeys at 13 and 14 to drop to 3 over on the day. He bounced back with a birdie at the par-5 15th but gave the shot back with a bogey at 18 to make the turn at 3 over. Yi again played a more steady second nine, making a birdie and two bogeys to finish with a 1-over 37 on the front nine.
The Beaumont, Calif. native's stellar collegiate career came to an end by missing the cut. He competed in the NCAA Championships in all four years of his career, playing a large role in the 2016 team that won the NCAA title and the 2017 team that finished as national runner-up. Yi also earned All-Pac-12 honors twice in his time at Oregon and was selected PING All-West Region in 2019.
