Balanced Effort Puts Ducks in Second

PORTLAND, Ore. – Oregon got contributions up and down the lineup to sit in second place at 10 over through the first two rounds of the Molly Collegiate Invitational Monday at Waverley Country Club.
Three Ducks are in the top 10 through 36 holes, with freshman Briana Chacon leading the way in fifth while Tze-Han Lin and Amy Matsuoka are tied for eighth.
How it Happened – Round 1: Three Ducks sat in the top 10 at the end of round one with Chacon and Matsuoka in a tie for fifth and Lin in a tie for eighth.
Chacon and Matsuoka each made two birdies and three bogeys on the way to a 1-over 73 while Lin carded five birdies and shot a 2-over 74.
Freshman Sofie Kibsgaard Nielsen turned in a 6-over 78 and was in a tie for 30th. Bella Setio shot a 5-over 77 and was tied for 21st following her opening round, playing as an individual
Round 2: Ching-Tzu Chen rebounded from a shaky opening round with a bogey-free 4-under 68 to move into 13th place. She birdied two of the three par-5s on the back nine to make the turn at 2 under before making birdie on holes one and two to get back to 5 over for the tournament. Chen's 67 finished as tied for the low round of the 36-hole opening day of the event.
Chacon turned in a steady afternoon round, shooting a 1-over 73 with a birdie and two bogeys while fellow freshman Sofie Kibsgaard Nielsen matched her with a 73 of her own. Lin shot a 2-over 74 while Matsuoka ended up as the non-counting score with a 3-over 75 but still remained in the top 10.
Alexis Phadungmartvorakul and Setio are tied for 26th at 9 over competing as individuals after Phadungmartvorakul shot a 75 and Setio turned in a 76.
The Ducks trail 36-hole leader Stanford by seven shots heading into the final round while the Cardinal's Andrea Lee holds the individual lead at 4 under.
