EUGENE, Ore. – Sabrina Ionescu, Ruthy Hebard and Satou Sabally have all been named to the midseason top-25 watch list for the John R. Wooden Award presented to the nation's top player, the Los Angeles Athletic Club announced on Wednesday afternoon on ESPNU.
Oregon's three selections are the second most in the nation, trailing only No. 1 UConn (four). The Pac-12 leads all conferences with seven total players on the watch list.
Ionescu, the reigning Wooden Award winner, has racked up three triple-doubles so far this season for the No. 2 Ducks, raising her NCAA all-time record to 21 ahead of this weekend's games at Arizona State and No. 18 Arizona. Ionescu is averaging 15.6 points, 9.0 rebounds and an NCAA-leading 8.8 assists per game through 13 games as a senior.
Hebard got her senior season off to a tremendous start with five straight double-doubles, and she has seven entering this weekend while ranking second in the nation with a 69.7 field-goal percentage. The Fairbanks, Alaska, native leads the Ducks with 17.0 points and 9.5 rebounds per game so far this season.
Sabally is averaging 14.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game through nine games played so far as a junior while racking up six double-figure scoring performances. The Berlin, Germany, native missed the first three games of the regular season while competing overseas with the German Women's National Team.
All three Ducks were on the Wooden Award preseason watch list as well.
The No. 2 Ducks (12-1, 2-0) will face Arizona State on Friday night in Tempe before going to Tucson for a top-25 showdown against No. 18 Arizona on Sunday afternoon.
