Hampton Named NCATA Athlete of the Week

EUGENE, Ore. – For the second week in a row, Oregon earned the NCATA Athlete of the Week Honor. Following the Ducks' win at Arizona Christian University, junior Calyx Hampton has been named the NCATA Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Thursday.
Hampton competed in all six events against Arizona Christian to help Oregon win by the largest margin of victory in program history (45.97 points).
Hampton competed in all four compulsory event heats leading to a compulsory score of 37.75, and all three pyramid heats, scoring a 29.60. Hampton also competed in heat one of the acro event (9.90), heat two (9.75) and heat three (9.3) of the toss event, and heat three of the tumbling event (9.0).
Contributing to a perfect 10.00 start value in the acro heat and all three pyramid heats, Hampton also contributes a 9.90 start value to the synchronized toss heat.
A back base, bottom base, primary base and tumbler, her versatility in her basing ability and skills is seen throughout the meet. In the team event, Hampton partakes in synchronized running tumbling, synchronized standing tumbling, two different acro sequences, synchronized pyramid, and synchronized toss. The Ducks earned a team event score of 95.33 against Arizona Christian to secure the meet win, 275.38-229.41.
No. 2 Oregon will now head to Waco, Texas, to compete against defending NCATA Champion, No. 1 Baylor, on Sunday, February 23.
