Justin Herbert is one of two winners from Oregon of the Pac-12's Tom Hansen Conference Medal for 2019-20.
EUGENE, Ore. — Quarterback Justin Herbert of the Oregon football team is one of two UO recipients of the Pac-12's Tom Hansen Conference Medal for 2019-20, along with Satou Sabally from the women's basketball team.
Conference medals have been awarded every year since 1960-61, to the outstanding male and female graduating student-athletes from each conference member school based on scholarship, athletics and leadership. They were renamed in 2009 to honor former conference commissioner Tom Hansen.
Herbert led the UO football team to a 12-2 record, the Pac-12 title and a Rose Bowl victory as a senior during the 2019 season. He was named Rose Bowl Offensive MVP after rushing for three touchdowns in the Ducks' victory over Wisconsin.
A general science major with a 4.01 grade-point average, Herbert won the William V. Campbell Trophy as college football's most outstanding scholar-athlete in 2019. He was named CoSIDA Academic All-America Team Member of the Year for the second year in a row, and was the Pac-12's scholar-athlete of the year in football.
Herbert was named Senior Bowl MVP and participated in the NFL Scouting Combine prior to April's NFL Draft, in which he was the No. 6 overall pick, by the Los Angeles Chargers.
