EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon head coach Courtney Nagle announced the addition of transfer Ares Teixido Garcia Wednesday. Teixido Garcia spent her freshman season at Alabama and will join the program this fall.
"We are excited to welcome Ares to our Oregon family," said Nagle. "She comes to us with great experience from her junior career and her time at Alabama. She is a great talent with strong character and dedication who will make an instant impact on our program. We can't wait for her to continue her tennis journey at Oregon this fall."
Teixido Garcia spent the dual season at the No. 3 and No. 4 courts, going 4-1 at the No. 3 spot and 6-5 at the No. 4 spot. She finished the season 13-10 overall in singles play, highlighted by a six-match winning streak to start the dual season on the way to a 10-6 mark. She also went 6-4 overall in doubles play, going 5-2 in dual matches.
The Lleida, Spain native enjoyed a standout junior career, taking home the singles title at the 2018 ITF G4 France while winning four other tournaments in doubles play. Teixido Garcia won the Junior Catalan Championship doubles title and was ranked as high as No. 37 nationally in Spain.
She also turned in a number of high finishes at major junior events worldwide and in Spain. Teixido Garcia delivered runner-up finishes in singles at the ITF G4 Algeria and the Madrid Open, U-16 in 2018. Also in 2018, she was a doubles semifinalist at the Spain U-18 National Championship and runner-up at the ITF G4 Portugal.
