Ducks Fall at No. 5 Ohio State

UO suffers just its second 4-0 loss of the season.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – In its penultimate regular-season match, the Oregon women's tennis team suffered a 4-0 defeat to No. 5 Ohio State on Friday at Ty Tucker Tennis Center.

The Ducks (12-12, 3-9) battled in doubles play to begin the day, but fell by identical 6-3 scores at Nos. 1 and 2. On court three, Virginia Crocker and Bridget Mihulka trailed 5-4 when the doubles point was decided.

Going up against a singles lineup that features four players in the top 100 of the ITA rankings, Tilde Jagare stole the opening set against the nation's fifth-ranked player in Teah Chavez, 7-5, but the match was unable to be completed after the Buckeyes (20-3, 11-1) clinched the match.

OSU picked up straight-set wins at Nos. 3, 5 and 6, to hand UO just its second 4-0 loss of the season.

Eleven of Oregon's 12 losses have come against teams ranked inside the nation's top 60. As a team, Oregon boasts a 59-46 combined dual singles record while going 33-24 in doubles play.

The Ducks conclude the regular season on Sunday at No. 56 Penn State (8 a.m. PT).
