Ducks Earn ITA Team, Individual Academic Honors

Oregon received all-academic honors as a team while Madisen Olsen and Plobrung Plipuech were each named scholar-athletes by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Monday.

The Ducks finished the 2019-20 academic year with a cumulative team GPA of 3.34, highlighted by nine student-athletes with GPAs above 3.1. This is the eighth time since 2011 that Oregon has earned team academic recognition and the first time since 2017. In order to be eligible to receive all-academic team honors, programs needed to have a team GPA of 3.2 or higher.

Olsen, a true freshman, finished the year with a stellar 3.91 GPA and was named to the Dean's List for both the winter and spring quarters. On the court, she appeared in 19 singles matches while going 5-5 in doubles play. She clinched the doubles point in a win over Illinois on Feb. 21, teaming up with Rifanty Kahfiani for a 7-5 victory.

Plipuech ended her first year at Oregon with a 3.56 GPA, securing a spot on the Dean's List for the spring quarter. The junior transfer dealt with injuries for much of the season, appearing in three matches overall, going 2-1 in doubles and 0-1 in singles. Her second doubles victory came in a 4-3 win over Fresno State on Feb. 29 and helped the Ducks pick up the doubles point.

Oregon has now had 35 ITA Scholar-Athlete honorees all-time while this is the ninth time since 2009 that the Ducks have had multiple players receive the recognition. Student-athletes with a 3.5 GPA or higher for the 2019-20 academic year were eligible to be named scholar-athlete.
