Sabally Named to WNBA All-Rookie Team
09/27/20 | Women's Basketball
NEW YORK – Satou Sabally's terrific debut season with the Dallas Wings was rewarded on Sunday morning as the former Oregon women's basketball star was named to the 2020 WNBA all-rookie team.

Sabally is joined on the all-rookie squad by Julie Allemand (Indiana), Chennedy Carter (Atlanta), Jazmine Jones (New York) and 2020 rookie of the year Crystal Dangerfield (Minnesota). Sabally received the maximum 11 votes from a panel of the WNBA's head coaches.

The No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 WNBA Draft, Sabally ranked first among rookies and 11th in the WNBA during the shortened 2020 regular season with 7.8 rebounds per game, and she was third among first-year players with 13.9 points per game. The Berlin, Germany, native scored 20-plus points three different times and led all rookies with five double-doubles, despite missing six of the Wings' 22 games due to injury.

Sabally is only the fifth first-year player in WNBA history to average at least 13.0 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game, joining the elite company of Lisa Leslie, Tamika Catchings, Candace Parker and Breanna Stewart.

Sabally gives the Wings an all-rookie selection for the fifth straight season, and she is the first Oregon alum ever to earn WNBA all-rookie honors.
