Ducks Wrap Up ITA Northwest Regional

EUGENE, Ore. – Luke Vandecasteele earned a spot in the ITA Northwest Super Regional with his performance during the tournament, advancing to the quarterfinals with some big victories.
 
Vandecasteele eventually fell 7-5, 6-3 to the No. 1 ranked player in the tournament, Sasha Trkulja from Gonzaga. Luke Vandecasteele battled to a three-set win to advance to the quarterfinals of the ITA Northwest Regional Championships on Thursday. With the win, he is automatically qualified for the Super Regional in Seattle (Oct. 22-25).
 
Vandecasteele defeated Portland's Issa Yoshida 6-4, 2-6, 7-5 to join teammates Joshua Charlton, Jesper Klöv-Nilsson and Quinn Vandecasteele in the Seattle Super Regional.
 
Earlier in the day, Luke and Ryoma Matsushita advanced to the third round of the doubles draw, beating Portland State (Richards/Jesser) 8-5. The duo eventually fell to Portland's Yoshida and Hibi 6-4 7-6(5).
