A&T visits Azusa Pacific Thursday night

EUGENE, Ore. – Coming off a win over No. 1 Baylor, the second-ranked Oregon acrobatics & tumbling team returns to the mat Thursday night at 7 p.m. at No. 4 Azusa Pacific.
Oregon enters the meet with a 2-0 record with home wins over Baylor and Arizona Christian. The Ducks knocked off Baylor on March 6, 281.635-280.60, after opening the season with a 277.53-252.97 win over Arizona Christian on Feb. 21.
Now Oregon heads to Southern California for the first of two road meets to finish the regular season.
"Skills wise, our prep is the same as any other meet," head coach Keenyn Won Said. "I feel confident with our skills during our last practices at home and execute those skills on the road. However, the biggest travel challenges with our first road trip is getting used to all the new COVID protocols in place for team travel. Safety remains our top priority, and we are looking forward to a smooth trip."
Execution is going to be a key for the Ducks on Thursday night. Won is looking for Oregon to maintain its consistency against APU, which is opening its 2021 campaign against UO.
"Executing our skills," Won said referring to the keys to Oregon's success. "The goal going into every meet is executing our skills. We've talked about focusing on ourselves this season and taking it one meet at a time.
"We had great execution in a lot of our heats at our last meet vs Baylor," Won added. "So the key will be continuing the stay consistent in the heats we scored well in and to execute in the heats we had mistakes in. As long as our team continues to stay confident in their abilities, we will be in a good spot for this meet."
While the win over Baylor was big, considering it was the Ducks' first against the Bears since 2017, Won feels like there are a number of areas where UO can make strides toward even better scores.
"We definitely saw room to improve in our tumbling event coming off of our last meet," Won said. We had a fall and synchronization issues in the quad pass, so we've focused on cleaning up those passes and looking forward to lowering our number of deductions in that event. We can also always improve on the little things - tighter catches and taking out the bobbles. Those are the tenths of points that can add up throughout the meet."
