Lacewell earns weekly recognition

EUGENE, Ore. – The National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA) announced its week seven awards for the 2021 season on Thursday, with Oregon's Addie Lacewell earning Specialist of the Week honors. Payton Coon claimed honorable mention Athlete of the Week recognition.

Addie Lacewell, a senior base from Naperville, Ill., earned the honor after helping Oregon to a trio of high scores during the Ducks' meet against Azusa Pacific. Lacewell helped Oregon to a perfect 10.0 in the synchronize pyramid, a 9.90 in the inversion pyramid and a 9.85 in the open pyramid. Lacewell competes as a mid-base and a tosser during the pyramid event for UO.

Coon, a senior top, base and tumbler from Portland, Ore., competed in 11 different heats to lead Oregon last week. During her heats, the Ducks averaged a score of 9.78. Coon's week was highlighted by a perfect 10.0 in the synchronized pyramid and a 9.90 in the six-element tumbling pass. She also helped Oregon to a pair of 9.90 scores in the inversion pyramid and open toss. Also, she was part of Oregon's trio tumbling pass that scored a 9.60 out of a possible 9.80.
