Taylor Susnara Named Oregon Acrobatics and Tumbling Head Coach

EUGENE, Ore. — Former student-athlete and assistant coach Taylor Susnara has been named the new head coach of the Oregon acrobatics and tumbling program, director of athletics Rob Mullens announced on Wednesday.
Susnara was a three-time NCATA all-American for the Ducks from 2015-18 before working as an assistant for the last three seasons under former head coach Keenyn Won, who stepped down in April to pursue other interests. Susnara becomes the fourth head coach in the program's history.
"We are thrilled to announce Taylor as our new head coach," Mullens said. "Taylor was a phenomenal student-athlete here at Oregon and has grown tremendously as a coach over the last few years. She understands what it means to be a Duck and the importance of the student-athlete experience.
"This is an exciting time for Oregon acrobatics and tumbling as the sport moves closer to having its championship sponsored by the NCAA, and we couldn't ask for a better person than Taylor to lead the way."
Over the last three seasons, Susnara has helped the Ducks to a 13-7 overall record as well as a runner-up finish at the 2019 NCATA National Championship finals. Oregon knocked off No. 1 ranked and eventual national champion Baylor on March 6, 2021, in Matthew Knight Arena, the program's first win over the Bears since February 2017.
"I am excited and grateful for the opportunity to lead this program and am overjoyed to continue sharing my passion for the sport of acrobatics and tumbling," Susnara said. "The University of Oregon is home for me and I have fallen in love with the community and culture that surrounds being a Duck.
"It is an absolute privilege to be in this position and I have high hopes and expectations for the future of this program. We have an exceptional group of student-athletes and I'm ready for a fun, competitive season ahead. GO DUCKS!"
A native of Lake Forest, Calif., Susnara was a two-time open tumbling national champion and two-time 6-element tumbling national champion for the Ducks. She captured her second open tumbling national title as a senior in 2018 while also earning a pair of NCATA player of the week honors.
A four-year letterwinner, Susnara graduated from Oregon in 2018 with a degree in social science. She is one of just two student-athletes in program history to be named a three-time NCATA all-American, and she helped the Ducks compile a 31-13 record and three NCATA national runner-up finishes over her four years.
In June 2020, the NCAA approved acrobatics and tumbling for the organization's Emerging Sports for Women status, opening up a window in which the sport can earn the right to have its championship sanctioned by the premier governing body in collegiate athletics. To earn championship status, the sport will have to continue growing to at least 40 varsity programs across the nation.
