Yanez Named to USA Softball Top 50 Watch List

EUGENE, Ore. – All-American pitcher Brooke Yanez keeps accumulating preseason accolades.
Wednesday, the senior was named to USA Softball's Top 50 Watch List for the collegiate player of the year.
It is the third national top-50 preseason honor for Yanez, who was previously ranked 20th by Extra Innings Softball and 47th by Softball America.
The Ventura, Calif., native was an NFCA third-team All-American and a first-team all-Pac-12 pitcher in 2021. She finished second in the Pac-12 with 268 total strikeouts and led the conference with 10.29 strikeouts per seven innings.
An NFCA first-team all-Pacific Region selection, Yanez went 22-6 with a 2.11 ERA in 2021 while holding opponents to a .185 batting average in 182.1 innings of work. Her 268 strikeouts rank third in UO single-season history, behind only Cheridan Hawkins, who holds the top two spots.
The 17th-ranked Ducks open the 2022 season against Ole Miss Feb. 10 at Fullerton, Calif.
