West Regional Gateway to NCAA Meet

Friday's meet begins at 10 a.m. (PT) with the women's 6K in University Place, Wash.
EUGENE, Ore. – The 2022 postseason continues Friday with the NCAA West Regional Championships at Chambers Creek Regional Park in University Place, Wash. The women's 6K is set to go off at 10 a.m. (PT) with the men's 10K—their first of the season—to follow an hour later.
The top-two teams in each race receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Cross Country Championships (Nov. 19) in Stillwater, Okla. The entire field complete with at-large selections will be revealed later in the weekend.

Including both Oregon squads, the field will feature 10 nationally ranked teams—six men, four women.
WOMEN – No. 10 Oregon, No. 11 Stanford, No. 14 California Baptist, No. 16 Washington
MEN – No. 1 Stanford, No. 14 Washington, No. 18 Oregon, No. 24 Portland, No. 25 California Baptist, No. 26 Gonzaga
The program has collected 20 team titles at the NCAA regional meet, it's most recent being a win by the Women of Oregon in 2018. Individually, the Ducks have won 21 titles—11 men, 10 women—among 13 runners.
Last year, the UO women and men finished third and fourth, respectively, at the NCAA West Regional on their way to earning at-large bids. Aaron Bienenfeld is the top returner for the Men of Oregon, finishing in fourth place last season, while Emilie Girard was an all-region performer in 13th for the UO women.

The Women of Oregon ran to a bronze finish at the Pac-12 Championships (Oct. 28) in Riverside, Calif. Izzy Thornton-Bott crossed in fourth place and was joined by Harper McClain (11th place) and Girard (14th) in earning all-conference honors. Bienenfeld was the men's runner-up, the team's highest finish since Cooper Teare was second in 2019. The UO men finished fourth at the Pac-12 meet.
