KAILUA KONA, Hawaii - The Oregon women's golf team closed its fall season as the runner-up at the Nanea Pac-12 Preview after firing a 3-under 289 in Wednesday's final round at Nanea Golf Club.
The No. 6 Ducks placed second at 8 under overall, with No. 1 Stanford winning the team title at 18 under. Oregon edged out No. 13 Arizona (-7) by one stroke and No. 22 Arizona State (-5) by three strokes.
"I'm really proud of the way our team battled the last two days to end the fall on a high note," head coach Derek Radley said. "We got off to a little bit of a slow start on Monday, but we kept fighting and were able to play some really solid golf. Overall, a really good fall for our program with a lot of good growth. We're excited to take some time here during the winter and then come back and attack the spring season."
Oregon was led all week by junior transfer Ashleigh Park, who wrapped a tremendous first fall with the Ducks as the individual runner-up at 8-under par. After shooting 3 under on Monday and 4 under on Tuesday, Park made five birdies en route to a 1-under 72 in the final round. She finished second only to Stanford's Rose Zhang (-11), the No. 1 ranked women's amateur in the world and the reigning individual NCAA champion.

"I can't say enough about the incredible fall season Ashleigh put together," Radley said. "Being a transfer, she instantly made an huge impact in our lineup and I am so proud of her. This was a tremendous week for Ashleigh and a great way to end her fall season. I can't wait to see what this superstar does this spring."
Second place is Oregon's best-ever finish in eight appearances at the Pac-12 Preview, besting last year's fifth-place showing.
How it Happened: Park got off to another stellar start on Wednesday, making birdie on her first hole and then back-to-back birdies on holes 4 and 5 to quickly get to 3 under. Three bogeys in her next seven holes brought her back to even, but she bounced back with a birdie at 13 and then finished at 1 under with a birdie on 18.
While Park was UO's top individual finisher for the week, Oregon's final round was headlined by two-time all-American Briana Chacon. The senior got off to a blazing start with three birdies in her first five holes, and then got to 5-under par with back-to-back birdies at 12 and 13. Three straight bogeys put her at 2 under with three to play, and she made a pair of pars before closing with a birdie to card her second straight 3-under 70.
Chacon joined Park in the individual top 10, tying for seventh place overall at 4-under par for the week.

Senior Brittany Shin also played well on Wednesday, matching Park with a 1-under 72 in a relatively clean round. Shin made three birdies and two bogeys in her first nine holes to get to 1 under before closing with nine straight pars.
Junior Minori Nagano rounded out the Ducks' counting scores with a 2-over 75, and provided the highlight of the day with an eagle on the par-4, 346-yard 16th hole. Nagano hit a pitching wedge from 105 yards out and landed it just long of the pin, perfectly using the back bank on the green for the ball to roll back into the hole.
