Nix Plans To Return For 2023 Season
12/18/22 | Football
Quarterback Bo Nix announced Sunday he intends to play another year with the Ducks next season.
In 2022, Bo Nix put together one of the best regular seasons by a quarterback in Oregon football history. He's planning to stick around in 2023 and lead the Ducks to even greater heights.
Nix announced Sunday that he plans to remain with the UO football program for another season. As a first-year transfer in 2022, Nix led the Ducks on an eight-game winning streak that had Oregon in the thick of the College Football Playoff race and Nix generating Heisman Trophy buzz, before a November injury impeded that momentum.
"There's nothing like a Saturday in Autzen Stadium in front of the best fans in college football," Nix said. "There's nothing like playing for my coaches and going to battle with my teammates. There's nothing like being an Oregon Duck."
Entering Oregon's Holiday Bowl appearance against North Carolina on Dec. 28, Nix is 271-of-379 passing this season for 3,388 yards and 27 touchdowns, with six interceptions. He also rushed for 504 yards and 14 touchdowns in the regular season.
Those numbers put Nix at No. 9 on the UO single-season list for attempts, third in completions, fifth in passing yards and tied for ninth in touchdown passes. His completion percentage of 71.5 percent leads the Pac-12 and would be a UO single-season record, and his 14 rushing touchdowns are one shy of the UO single-season record for a quarterback, held by Marcus Mariota.
