No. 2 Ducks Set To Face Loaded Field

EUGENE, Ore. - Coming off its second victory of the season, the No. 2 ranked Oregon women's golf team will head to Palos Verdes, Calif., to compete against a loaded field at the Northrop Grumman Challenge beginning on Sunday. The Ducks will be the highest-ranked of 10 top-25 teams in the field, with No. 5 Wake Forest, No. 6 Virginia and No. 10 Texas also representing the top 10.

Ducks Claim Second Win In Tallahassee
Oregon ran away with its second victory of the season on February 25-27 in Tallahassee, Fla., shooting 3 under for the weekend to win the Florida State Match Up by 14 strokes. The Ducks got contributions from the entire lineup, with all six competing Ducks finishing in the top 15 of the individual standings. Sophomore Hsin-Yu (Cynthia) Lu once again led Oregon to victory as the team's top performer, earning individual runner-up honors at 1-under par for the weekend. Junior Ching-Tzu Chen finished one stroke back at even par to tie for third overall, Sofie Kibsgaard Nielsen placed sixth at 1 over, and both Briana Chacon and Tze-Han (Heather) Lin tied for seventh place at plus-3.
Flying High at No. 2
Oregon added another milestone to its impressive 2021-22 season on Wednesday, moving up to No. 2 in the national Golfstat rankings. The Ducks went up a spot after spending the previous two weeks at No. 3, trailing only Pac-12 rival Stanford for the top spot in the nation. Prior to this season, a No. 5 ranking at the end of the 1996-97 campaign is believed to be the highest ranking in program history.
Nielsen Shines In Spring Opener
Oregon placed fourth at the Lamkin Invitational on February 14-15 to kick off its spring schedule, with Sofie Kibsgaard Nielsen leading the way with the best finish of her career. The junior fired a 1-over 217 to tie for fourth place overall, opening with a 3-under 69 in the first round for her first sub-70 performance since the final 18 holes of her freshman season in 2019-20. Ching-Tzu Chen (+8) also earned a top-20 finish in a tie for 16th, and Hsin-Yu (Cynthia) Lu (+9) tied for 22nd.
Living In The Top Five
The Ducks head to California with an impressive history of top-five finishes under head coach Derek Radley. Oregon has placed in the top five in each of its six tournaments to open 2021-22, headlined by dominant victories at the Florida State Match Up and the Mason Rudolph Championship. UO has recorded 18 top-five finishes in its last 20 tournaments dating back to the 2019-20 season, with three total wins during that stretch. Overall, the Ducks have earned 24 top-five finishes in 31 total tournaments since Radley and assistant coach Monica Vaughn took over ahead of the 2018-19 season.
