McMorris Earns Second NCATA Freshman of the Week Award

EUGENE, Ore. – Blessyn McMorris earned her second NCATA Freshman of the Week award after helping the Ducks secure their first win of the season against Hawai'i Pacific.
McMorris was Oregon's first NCATA Freshman of the Week since Calyx Hampton (2018) when she earned the award after her first collegiate meet. She is the first Duck to win multiple Freshman of the Week awards since the NCATA started the freshman and specialist of the week programs in 2018.
The Lynwood, Ill.-native helped UO score a 29.75 as a base in all three heats of the pyramid event. Oregon scored a 9.95 in the inverted pyramid heat, its best score in the heat since March 26, 2018. In total, the Ducks had just 1.10 points deducted in the seven heats McMorris participated in.
In addition to McMorris, Oregon's Alyssa Hew earned honorable mention NCATA Athlete of the Week recognition, her third honorable mention recognition of the 2022 season.
The third-ranked Ducks return to Matthew Knight Arena on Friday, March 25. Oregon takes on No. 2 Azusa Pacific at 7 p.m.
