STANFORD, Calif. – Greg Solhaug shot a career-best 66 as Oregon climbed eight spots in the standings to a tie for 10th after the second round of The Goodwin, played Friday at Stanford Golf Course.
The Ducks bounced back from a 2-over 282 on Thursday to post a 6-under 274 Friday as Oregon rose from 18th to 10th at 4-under 556 heading to Saturday's final round.
How it Happened: Oregon came out firing Friday morning with 12 birdies on the first nine holes. Eric Doyle and Owen Avrit rolled in three birdies during that stretch, while Nate Stember, Jose Islas and Solhaug had two.
Solhaug then eagled the par-5 first hole – his 10th hole of the round – and birdied No. 7 before giving a stroke back with a bogey on his final hole, the only blemish on his scorecard on Friday.
Doyle shot a 2-under 68 Friday and was tied for (31st) overall at 2-under 138, along with Islas who had a 71 Friday.
Solhaug and Stember, who carded a 70 on Friday, were tied for (73rd) at 2-over 142.
Notable: Friday's eagle was the fourth of the season for Solhaug, which leads the team. Doyle's 68 equaled his season low round.
