Ducks Tied for 10th After Second Round at Big Ten Championships
05/02/26 | Men's Golf
PORTLAND, Ore. — The Oregon men's golf team remained in the middle of the pack Saturday, carding a 6-over-par 286 in the second round of the Big Ten Championships at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in Portland.Â
The Ducks improved from a 10-over-par opening round but remained outside serious contention, tied for 10th place at 16 over in the 18-team field after two rounds. Despite a double bogey and a triple bogey on holes 2 and 6, Oregon posted a similar score while battling cold, wet conditions — a Pacific Northwest-style day — showing slight improvement but not enough to move up the leaderboard.Â
Ramil Saelim led Oregon, shooting even par and jumping 18 spots on the individual leaderboard.Â
No. 33 UCLA took control with a 10-under round, building an 11-stroke lead entering the final day. No. 50 Washington and No. 12 Illinois were in second and third, respectively.Â
How it Happened: Saelim rebounded from a 6-over-par opening round to pace Oregon with an even-par performance. The sophomore carded 35 on both the front and back nines, recording two birdies and two bogeys on each side, though his final two bogeys came on holes 17 and 18.Â
Sebastian Desoisa shot a 2-over-par 72, finishing two strokes behind Saelim. The Gibraltar, U.K., native closed the front nine with consecutive bogeys but steadied on the back, recording one bogey over his final six holes at 17 before answering with a birdie on the next hole to finish strong.Â
Jeffrey Kwak and Aiden Krafft each shot 2 over and were tied at 5 over overall, sitting in a tie for 43rd. Kwak closed with a birdie on 18, while Krafft recorded two birdies over his final three holes.Â
