Stanford Offense Too Much For Ducks
03/27/22 | Women's Lacrosse
EUGENE, Ore. — Oregon could not contain the Stanford attack in a 20-10 loss on Sunday at Papé Field.
Hanna Hilcoff scored five goals for her third hat trick in as many games, bringing her to 86 career goals. Lillian Stump added a pair of goals for Oregon (3-7, 1-4 Pac-12).
How it Happened: The No. 24 Cardinal (6-5, 4-1 Pac-12) looked like they might pull away with the game early, jumping out to a 4-1 lead with 4:53 left in the first quarter.
Oregon responded with a 4-1 run over the next 15 minutes, tying the game at five when Haley Cummins found the back of the net for the first time this season. Morgan McCarthy, Haley Taylor and Stump scored the Ducks other three goals of the run, which forced a Cardinal timeout.
Stanford regained control of the game with a 8-1 run through the halftime break. Hilcoff briefly interrupted the run with a goal to open the second half, but the Cardinal scored five straight to go up 13-6 with 5:24 remaining in the third quarter.
Stump and Hilcoff briefly halted the Stanford run, scoring two in a row to make it 13-8, but the Cardinal put the game away by outscoring the Ducks 7-2 the rest of the way.
Up Next: The Ducks make a quick return trip to the Bay Area, taking on California and Stanford next weekend.
