
Ducks Drop Pac-12 Opener

STANFORD, Calif. – Oregon fell behind early and couldn't dig out of the early hole in a 6-1 loss at No. 25 Stanford in the conference opener for both teams Friday.

How It Happened: The Ducks dropped the doubles point for the just the third time all season to fall into a 1-0 hole to start. Allison Mulville and Myah Petchey made quick work at the No. 3 spot in a 6-1 win but UO fell at the other two spots to lose the opening point.

Stanford continued its momentum into singles play, as Oregon fell behind at all six spots with first-set losses. The Ducks fell at the Nos. 3, 2 and 4 spots to clinch the match for the Cardinal, before dropping matches at the No. 1 and 5 spots to go down 6-0. Karin Young provided the one bright spot for Oregon, winning in three sets at the No. 6 spot, 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 to improve to 8-1 on her freshman season.
