A&T Looking For Third Straight Win at Quinnipiac
04/01/22 | Acrobatics & Tumbling
HAMDEN, Conn. – Fresh off a victory over No. 2 Azusa Pacific, Oregon Acrobatics and Tumbling hits the road this weekend to take on No. 5 Quinnipiac in yet another top-five showdown.
Â
The Ducks have exclusively competed against ranked teams in 2022, picking up wins over the second-ranked Cougars and then-No. 5 Hawai'i Pacific. Oregon's remaining meets are against the Bobcats and No. 1 Baylor, so they will only compete against top-six teams during the regular season.
Â
Quinnipiac comes into the meet with a 4-2 record with its only two losses coming against No. 6 Gannon and No. 1 Baylor. The Bobcats, like the Ducks, had their best score of the season in their last meet, posting a 280.685 against the Bears on March 19. Oregon earned a season-high 280.580 in its win over APU last weekend.

THE DUCKS vs. THE BOBCATS
Oregon and Quinnipiac will meet for the 14th time on Sunday. The Ducks won 12 of the previous 13 meetings, including the last two. Quinnipiac did not compete in 2021, so the last matchup between the two teams was a 274.870-273.705 Oregon victory in Eugene on March 8, 2020. Like Oregon, Quinnipiac was one of the founding members of the NCATA and the two teams squared off for the first time in 2010.
Â
DUCKS UNLEASH BEST PERFORMANCE OF 2022 TO KNOCK OFF NO. 2 AZUSA PACIFIC
After an inauspicious start to the 2022 season, Oregon rebounded with back-to-back wins over Hawai'i Pacific and, last Friday, Azusa Pacific. The Ducks improved their overall score for the second meet in a row and set season highs in four of the six events against the second-ranked Cougars, closing out a thrilling meet with a season-best 97.58 in the team event. UO had its best scores of the season in the compulsory, toss, tumbling and team events last Friday en route to totaling its highest overall score of the season by more than five points.
Â
NCATA CHAMPIONSHIPS RETURN TO EUGENE
The 2022 season will also mark the first time Oregon has hosted the NCATA National Championships since the inaugural event in 2011. The Ducks were slated to host the 2020 championships before the COVID-19 pandemic wiped out the second half of the season. Oregon won the national championship the last time that the Ducks hosted, the first of three national titles. All-session tickets for this season's championships are available at am.ticketmaster.com/oregonducks/AcroTix.
