Seniors Honored At Season Finale

Oregon wrapped up its regular season Sunday with a loss to Baylor in Matthew Knight Arena.
EUGENE, Ore. — Oregon posted some season-best performances Sunday but also was hurt by some missteps in a 281.990-270.775 loss to top-ranked Baylor in the Ducks' regular-season finale at Matthew Knight Arena.
The Ducks (2-4) opened the meet with a season-high score in the compulsory event and added another in the toss event. But falls in the tumbling and team events denied Oregon a shot at the upset bid.
"We started off strong in the compulsory event, and then as the meet went on Baylor's a top-tier team and it was head-to-head competition all the way through," UO head coach Taylor Susnara said. "At the end of the day it was, who was the better team?"
Oregon fielded a different lineup for the sixth time in six meets Sunday. The lineup changes the team has endured this season include one as recent as Thursday of this week.
"It's been a challenging year, to say the least," Susnara said. "But I'm really proud of how they've come together and persevered through the adversity. These next two weeks between now and the national championships are going to be really solid for them, to be able to get more consistent and really hone in on those little things."

The Ducks will be back in action for the NCATA Championships to be held April 28-30 in Matthew Knight Arena.
How It Happened: Oregon opened the meet with a season-high 38.90 in the compulsory event, including a 9.90 in the pyramid heat. Baylor posted a 39.10 for the event aided by perfect 10 in the toss heat, and the Bears extended their lead by outpointing the Ducks in the acro event, 29.50-27.75.
The Ducks got back on track with scores of 9.85, 9.90 and 9.85 in the three pyramid heats, trailing 98.45-96.25 in the team score through three events. A season-high 28.55 in the toss event kept Oregon within 127.40-124.80 in the team score.

The tumbling event was not with highlights for Oregon. In the duo pass hear, Karly Nowak and Kaylie Barrera tied the Ducks' season high with a score of 9.60, and the quad pass quartet of Emma Keogh, Jade Albalos, Katie Keogh and Emily Lorimor posted a UO season best of 9.15, on a starting value of 9.40. But a fall during the tumbling event put the Ducks down 183.650-180-875 entering the team event
Oregon's score for the meet's finale was 89.90, while Baylor added 98.34 points to its overall score to clinch the victory.

Following the meet, the Ducks honored their eight-woman senior class — Aneesa Ochoa, Alyssa Hew, Kaylene Iriye, Kierstin Rouse, Sara Buchner, Mariah Tanner, Logan McBain and Lorimor.
"This group of seniors is really special," Susnara said. "They're not just good athletes, they're good people and they just have led the way from the very start. I'm just really proud of all they've done so far."
Up Next: Seeding for the NCATA Championships will be announced Monday.
