Ducks Drop Meet at Quinnipiac
04/03/22 | Acrobatics & Tumbling
HAMDEN, Conn. – Oregon dropped its first meet in more than a month on Sunday, falling 268.450-267.620 at Quinnipiac.
How it Happened: The Ducks trailed early in the meet after dropping the compulsory event 38.55-37.90. The score was higher than Oregon's season average in the event, but deductions in a 9.35 toss heat put UO behind the Bobcats.
In acro, Oregon again struggled in just a single heat, but it allowed Quinnipiac to expand its lead to nearly a point at 67.15-66.20. The Ducks rebounded from a tough showing in five-element acro to post 9.70 and 9.50 scores in the remaining two heats to keep themselves in it.
The meet continued with a narrow pyramid event that saw QU expand its lead to 96.45-95.40 heading into haltime. Oregon's struggles returned after the break though, dropping the toss event 28.25-27.10 to give Quinnipiac a 2.1-point lead entering tumbling.
UO had some bright spots in the tumbling event, getting a 9.825 in aerial tumbling and a season-high 9.85 on the six-element pass. Unfortunately, errors in other passes cost the Ducks and Quinnipiac had nearly a three-point lead heading into the final event. Oregon won the team event 89.22-87.45, but it wasn't enough to make up the deficit.
Up Next: The Ducks return home for their final regular season meet of the year next Sunday against No. 1 Baylor. The meet will begin at 4 p.m. and be televised on Pac-12 Networks.
