Ducks Shoot Second-Lowest Round to Par in Program History

STOCKTON, Calif. – The men's golf team had a day for the record books Tuesday at the Stockton Regional that propelled the Ducks up the leaderboard and into contention for a spot at the 2022 NCAA Championships.
Oregon's 18-under 270 in the second round was not only the Ducks' best score in program history in a postseason tournament, but it was also the second-lowest score in relation to par overall for all tournaments.
"Today was a great day," said head coach Casey Martin. "I challenged the guys and the responded beautifully."
Entering the day tied for eighth, the Ducks climbed into a tie for third by the end of the round. No. 4 Arizona State led the Regional at 21-under 555, followed by No. 16 Stanford (19-under). Oregon and BYU were tied at 16-under. No. 21 LSU was a shot back at 14-under, followed by Denver (13-under), Liberty (11-under) and No. 9 Washington (9-under).
The top five teams from the Stockton Regional will advance to will advance to the NCAA Championships May 27-June 1 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
How It Happened: All five Ducks were under par on Tuesday, led by freshman Greyson Leach's career-low 7-under 65. That score tied the school record for a low round at an NCAA Regional. Leach had two birdies on the front nine and then birdied five of his last eight holes to better his previous personal best by two strokes.

Both Owen Avrit and Yuki Moriyama turned in rounds of 4-under 68 for the Ducks. Both players had five birdies and one bogey on the day. Avrit was bogey-free until giving a shot back on the difficult 17th hole, while Moriyama recovered from an early bogey at No. 4.
Nate Stember's 3-under 69 rounded out the scoring for the Ducks. Like Avrit and Moriyama, Stember also had five birdies, but bogeyed twice (No. 4 and No. 8).

Even the Ducks non-counting score on Tuesday – Greg Solhaug's 71 – was under par.
For the tournament, Avrit was tied for seventh at 6-under 138 and was one shot off the lead held by six golfers.
Moriyama was two strokes back of the leaders in 10th at 5-under 139. Leach was the biggest climber of the day as he moved 40 spots up to 21st at 3-under 141. Solhaug was tied for 37th at even par.
