Graves Lands Two New Ducks
11/17/23 | Women's Basketball
EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon head women's basketball coach Kelly Graves announced the signings of forward Ehis Etute and guard Katie Fiso to National Letters of Intent (NLI) during the fall signing period.
Â
Etute (Dudelange, Luxembourg) is a 6-foot forward while Fiso (Seattle, Wash.) is a 5-foot-11 point guard. According to ESPN.com, Fiso is a four-star prospect and the nation's 31st ranked player (No. 9 point guard) in espnW's HoopGurlz recruiting rankings.
Â
"This is a great class for us," Graves said of the signing class. "We've added two really good players that will complement the pieces we already have and fit in well with our young team. They are both extremely competitive players, great students and great people that will represent our team and community well."
Â
Â
Ehis Etute 6-0, F, Dudelange, Luxembourg
Plays for the Luxembourg club T71 Dudelange in the Luxembourg LBBL ... Leads her team in scoring and rebounding this season, averaging 15.8 points and 10.8 rebounds per game season while shooting 52.9 percent from the field … Produced four double-doubles in four games, setting season highs with 21 points and 12 rebounds against Sparta on Sept. 30 … In the 2023-24 Eurocup, averaged 10.0 points and 12.3 rebounds a game … In 2022-23, averaged a double-double with 14.5 points and a team-high 14.7 rebounds a game while shooting 46.2 percent from the field in 27 games … Helped her team to a 24-4 record during the league season and during last year's Eurocup, produced 11.3 points and 10.0 boards a contest over six games … Represented the Luxembourg U18 national team at the 2022 European Championships, where she averaged 19.3 points, 17.1 rebounds and 3.9 assists a game while starting all seven games and recording a double-double in each contest … She scored 27 points and added 18 rebounds against the U.K. and finished with 32 points and 18 rebounds against North Macedonia during the tournament.
Â
Graves on Etute: Ehis is a double-double machine. I think she will remind Duck fans of a shorter Nyara Sabally with the way she plays. She is an exceptionally skilled rebounder and has the ability to finish strong around the rim. She has been playing against pros over in Europe, so I think her adjustment to the college game will be pretty smooth.
Â
Â
Katie Fiso, 5-11, PG, Seattle, Wash. (Garfield H.S.)
Ranked No. 31 overall in the nation in the Class of 2023 in the espnW top 100 … A four-star recruit according to ESPN … The ninth-ranked point guard in the class and top-rated player in the state of Washington … Led Garfield High School a third straight Washington 3A state title in 2022 and was named tournament MVP … Named 2023 state player of the year by MaxPreps and The News Tribune … Averaged 22 points, six rebounds and two assists a game while leading the Bulldogs to a 23-1 record as a junior … Named to USA Basketball's 2023 3x3 U18 World Cup Team, where she helped Team USA win gold in Hungary … Selected to the 2022 USA 3x3 U17 AmeriCup Team.
Â
Graves on Fiso: Katie is a natural born leader and a winner. I think she's the best point guard in the country, regardless of what the rankings say. She's someone who can step onto the floor right away and run our system and be a leader on the floor. Katie's maturity and work ethic really stand out and Duck fans are going to love watching her play.
