Ducks Tied For Fourth After Round Two

PALOS VERDES, Calif. — The Oregon women's golf team will enter the final round of the Therese Hession Regional Challenge in a tie for fourth place after shooting a 6-over 290 in the second round on Monday at Palos Verdes Golf Club.
The No. 5 Ducks sit at 10-over par after 36 holes, tied with host Ohio State for fourth place. No. 1 Stanford leads the field at 2-over par, with No. 3 San Jose State in second at 4 over and No. 23 USC in third at 9 over.
Junior Minori Nagano was Oregon's top performer on Monday with an even-par 71, while senior Ching-Tzu Chen is the top Duck on the leaderboard in a tie for 10th overall.
How it Happened: Birdies were harder to find across the board on Monday. Oregon's 6-over 290 was a two-stroke regression from Sunday's opening round, but was the fourth-best score of the day in the second round.
Nagano shot par-or-better for the second time as a Duck while making 15 total pars. She was 2 over after a double bogey at No. 4, but bounced back to shoot 2 under across the final 14 holes with birdies at No. 11 and No. 16. Nagano's strong round shot her 28 spots up the leaderboard into a tie for 28th overall.
Chen will enter Tuesday's final round in a tie for 10th overall at 1-under par after firing a 2-over 73 on Monday. Chen was 2 under through 12 holes and briefly took the individual lead before making back-to-back bogeys at 13-14 and a double bogey at No. 17.
Chen is five strokes behind individual leader Rose Zhang (Stanford), the No. 1 ranked amateur player in the world and the reigning NCAA individual champion.
Senior Briana Chacon made two birdies and two bogeys en route to a second straight 1-over 72, and sits in a tie for 15th at 2-over par. Junior Hsin-Yu (Cynthia) Lu rounded out the counting scores with a 3-over 74 while matching Chen for the team-high on the day with three birdies.
