Ceballos, Stoffal earn weekly honors

EUGENE, Ore. – Following a 4-1 week and a series win over No. 7 Stanford, Sabin Ceballos and Jace Stoffal both claimed weekly awards on Monday.
Ceballos (Rio Grande, Puerto Rico / Puerto Rico Baseball HS Academy / San Jacinto CC) is one of Collegiate Baseball's National Players of the Week, while Stoffal (Roseburg, Ore. / Roseburg HS / Umpqua CC) claimed his second consecutive Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week honor.
Stoffal picked up the honor after tossing a complete game shutout against the Cardinal, who entered the weekend as the Pac-12's top scoring team, on Friday. Stoffal allowed just three hits in the outing while matching a career high with nine strikeouts. After allowing a leadoff single, the junior right-hander proceeded to retire the next 13 batters he faced before allowing a single and a walk in the fifth. Stoffal pitched out of the one-out jam that inning and then put down the next 11 batters in order before giving up a leadoff single in the ninth. He retired the final three batters in the ninth, the final two on strikeouts.
Stoffal joins a small group of Pac-12 pitchers who have claimed back-to-back weekly honors. He is the 30th pitcher to go back-to-back on the award since 1986 and just the second Ducks' pitcher (Alex Keudell – 2012). Two pitchers have won the honor four consecutive weeks (Sean Rees – Arizona State – 1990; Tim Lincecum – Washington – 2006) and three have won it back-to-back-to-back weeks (Alex Sanchez – UCLA – 1986; Travis Willis – California – 1989; Trevor Bauer – UCLA – 2011).
Ceballos earned the Collegiate Baseball national honor after leading the Ducks to two midweek wins over San Francisco and a series win over Stanford. In five games, the Ducks' third baseman batted .368 (7-for-19) with three home runs, a triple, 11 RBI and four runs scored. He reached base at a .429 clip while slugging .947. Ceballos also played flawless defense at third, handling 14 chances without an error.
In the Stanford series, he led the team batting .417 (5-for-12) with two home runs, a triple, six RBI and three runs scored. He slugged 1.083 against the Cardinal and had a 1.500 OPS. Against San Francisco, Ceballos belted a home run and had five RBI in two games.
